Our constitution
Redbridge’s current constitutional arrangement is to have a

Council with an executive, which is currently made up of the
Leader, the Deputy Leader and eight other Cabinet members.
The Cabinet members are also appointed by full Council.
Council is responsible for deciding who will exercise its
executive functions.
After much consultation, and in line with The Local Government and
Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, Redbridge will change its
executive structure to a new style Leader and Cabinet before the
local elections take place in May 2010.
Our staff
The Council employs 8,500 staff who work flexibly at a number of
locations across the Borough.
They strive, at all times, to help make Redbridge a better place
to work and live.
Redbridge Council is a three star Council, which means that it has
received a top grading from the Audit Commission on its delivery of
value for money services to residents.
This places it in the top ten per cent of all councils across
the UK.
