New Supporting People Services

Generic Floating Support Service

Redbridge has a new floating support service for vulnerable adults funded through the Supporting People Programme. The new service started on 1 August 2007 and is run by Family Mosaic. This service will work with around 120 - 150 service users at a time, from a range of groups including: people with mental health problems, people with drug and alcohol problems, women at risk of domestic violence, young people at risk (aged 16+), homeless people, rough sleepers, ex-offenders and refugees.

Support workers from the service will visit people in their home or another agreed venue, to offer help in a range of areas such as: keeping a tenancy, managing finances, finding work or training opportunities, developing life skills and making contact with specialist services if needed. The aim of the service is to help people to be able to live independently in the community.

New Priority and Prolific Offenders (PPO) Service

A cross authority initiative between the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge commissioned the support provider Single Homeless Project (SHP), to provide a one year pilot project to work with priority and prolific offenders.  The service started on the 1 June 2007.

The new service aims to reduce re-offending amongst vulnerable people who are priority prolific offenders through the provision of floating support that focuses on the prevention of homelessness, income maximisation, independence and crime prevention. Support will be delivered with the aim of improving the quality of life and opportunities available to PPO clients and reducing the circumstances that lead to offending.
