There are many visitor attractions within Redbridge such as:

Attractions at Ilford 

  • Valentines Mansion & Gardens    
    Discover a beautiful 300 year old country house in the heart of Ilford.  Visit the recreated Victorian kitchen and Georgian rooms, with gorgeous views over surrounding parkland.  Enjoy contemporary art exhibitions and installations.  Explore the stunning historic gardens.  Bring the whole family for hands-on games, activities and discovery trails. 
     
  • Valentines Park
    This is the largest formal park in Redbridge, with a boating lake, sports facilities and Valentines Mansion and grounds.
  • Redbridge Museum located in Ilford Town Centre
  • Middlefield Farmhouse
    This is an original late 19th Century building next to Valentines Park
  • Hospital Chapel of St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury, Ilford Hill
    Founded in the 12th century, the chapel later became a leper hospital, undergoing further rebuilding up to the end of the 19th Century. Part of the original structure remain and the west wall has two windows designed by Burne Jones, from the William Morris works.

    How and when to visit Ilford Hospital Chapel

    The Hospital Chapel has an Open Day on the second Saturday of each month, commencing March each year to November.  
    The hours are 10 am to 4 pm and admission is free. 

    Guided tours are available and stalls offer memorabilia and other items.   Refreshments are also available.

    The entrance to the Chapel is through a gated wall on Ilford Hill;  both
    the courtyard and the Chapel itself are wheelchair accessible.

  • Roding Valley Linear Park
    A river walk and cycle route from the railway line in central Ilford to Ray Park at the borough's northern boundary

Attractions at Hainault

  • Country Parks and Fairlop Waters The Park covers more than 300 acres, with a fishing lake, a rare breeds farm and many walks and bridleways.

Attractions at Snaresbrook

  • The Eagle Pub, Snaresbrook
    An inn dating from the 18th Century when it was a staging post for travellers on their way to London
  • Snaresbrook Crown Courts
    Designed by Sir Gilbert Scott and George Moffat as an asylum for orphaned babies, the building was opened by Leopold, King of the Belgians, in 1843. It was converted into the Royal Wanstead School in 1938 and is now used as a crown court.  Its turrets and Elizabethan style are reflected in the waters of Eagle Pond.

Attractions at Woodford

  • Hurst House
    Built in 1714 and overlooking the green at Woodford, it is known as "Naked Beauty" after a statue by Italian sculptor Monti which used to be in the garden. A bronze statue of Winston Churchill stands on the green to commemorate his 40 years as MP for Wanstead and Woodford.

Attractions at Wanstead

  • Wanstead Park
    Covering 140 acres, this is where Epping Forest meets East London. This historic park, previously owned by the Corporation of London this is a local hidden treasure featuring a grade 2 listed building. Wanstead Park contains a diverse wildlife population thanks to varied habitats such as lakes and ponds, woodlands, open rough grassland and mown playing fields and over 100 bird species are attracted to the area. Also look out for a range of plants, animal and other natural life that exist in this historical park.

    The Park's history is extraordinary! A site occupied since pre-Roman times, a royal court of James I and Charles I and briefly a centre of England's government this site was home to one of the world's largest telescopes of its time, leading to great scientific discoveries like the aberration of light and oscillation of the Earth.

  • Wanstead High Street
    Full of varied places to eat and drink, well-known and independent shops, and a green with children's play area, this is more than just your usual high street. 

  • Wanstead Festival
    A community highlight that is held in late summer.

  • St. Mary's Church
    Built in 1790, this local landmark is within walking distance from Wanstead Station and is one of the few grade 1 listed buildings in Redbridge.
