Balfour Beatty London Youth Games
Are you interested in participating in 2010?
The Sports and Physical Activity team are looking for
people to compete in a range of sports at the London Youth Games
2010 which is taking place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4
July.
If you are interested in participating, live or go to school in
Redbridge, are in the age range for each sport and compete at a
high standard, Club level or above, we would like to hear
from you.

The Redbridge team took part in 45 of the 49 events with over
700 young people from across the Borough participating.
Winning five gold and five silver medals, three
bronze medals and finishing within the top 10 in 29 of the sports
entered.
Redbridge went into the Finals Weekend having already won
Gold in Girls Cricket, Girls Squash and Boys Karate, silver in Boys
Cricket and Girls Karate, fourth in Disability Football
and top 10 finishes in Rowing (sixth), Trampolining (sixth), Diving
(sixth), Kayak Slalom (sixth), Table Tennis female (sixth), Sailing
(nineth), Female Basketball (nineth) and Table Tennis Male
(nineth).
Redbridge had a fantastic first day of the final weekend with
gold’s in the Badminton and Netball, Silvers in the Boys Volleyball
& Girls Hockey and Bronze’s in Archery and Cycling leaving
in second place going into the final day.
Sunday, traditionally the weaker of the two days for the
Redbridge team, proved to be a good day with outstanding
performances in a variety of sports. Indoor rowing (second), Hockey
Boys (thrid), Tennis (fourth), Athletics Boys (fifth), Athletics
Girls (sixth), Aquathlon (tenth), however this was not quite
enough to move ahead on Havering finishing 17 points behind.

Individual successes:
Becky Hewitt - Gold in Female Youth Aquathlon to add to her
Bronze in the Cycling
Aaron Josiah - Gold in Boys Athletics 200m & Bronze in 4 x 100m
relay
Chloe Michaud – Silver in high jump to add to her gold in the
Netball
Georgina Ferrari – Silver in the 800m
Adam Dower – Gold in Disability swimming 50m Backstroke
Charlotte Ince Wright – Silver in Disability Swimming 50m Freestyle
to add to her Silver and Gold in the Disability Athletics Shot
& Javelin
Kirsty Smith - Trampolining third overall
Most improved sport – Lawn Tennis who managed to
finished fouth this year
The Sport and Physical Activity Team would like to say a
huge thank you to all of the participants for their fantastic
efforts and achievements, to the team managers, volunteers and
coaches for their commitment and hard work in preparing the teams
for the London Youth Games.
