Parks and Open Spaces

Redbridge residents enjoy large open expanses of green space and urban parkland, some of which have lakes, zoo, historic buildings and gardens, sports clubs and associations and cycle routes.

Several of the parks have a wide range of sports facilities, including children's play areas which has recently had significant funding from awarding bodies such as the DCSF, BIG Lottery.  In the summer, the parks host programme of children's activities, community events, concerts, open-air theatre and funfairs.  Please check the events diary for more details of events within our parks.

Green Flag Status

Two of the Borough’s popular open spaces have been honoured with a prestigious quality award. Green Flag Award ceremony held in Elmhurst Gardens

Elmhurst Gardens and Hainault Forest Country Park have both been awarded Green Flag status, the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales which recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country.

Urban parks

These are Goodmayes, Clayhall, South, Seven Kings, Loxford and Ray Park - not forgetting other havens such as Barley Lane Recreation Ground, Salway Gardens, Christchurch Green and Westwood Recreation Ground, to name but a few.

Booking a Park, Recreation Ground or Open Space for an event

Certain green spaces within Redbridge are able to host events.  If you have an event that you would like to hold in a park, you will need to complete an application form.  Please note that the deadline for booking an event in a park in 2010 is the 31 March 2010, however applications submitted after this date may still be considered. Enquiries: 020 8708 2858
