Flats Recycling

Over 8500 residents in 275 flats and estates in Redbridge now have communal recycling sites, solely for use by residents.

How does the service work?

  1. Please fill your reusable* or carrier bag with the items listed below 
  2. Empty the bag into your paper and mixed recycling bins
  3. Your bins will be emptied every week.
  4. Fill the bag up again and again…!

*You should have received a reusable bag when your recycling bins were installed. If you did not, please contact the recycling team at: recycling@redbridge.gov.uk.

Please ensure that you only place the recyclable materials shown above in your flats recycling bins.

These bins are emptied weekly. The items are then mechanically sorted and made into new items.

All flats that have such recycling facilities are automatically entered into the Flats Recycling League competition.  A prize is awarded every three months to the flats that recycle the most, so make sure you recycle everything you can!
