Early education
Early education
is part of a programme of Early Years and
Childhood services in Redbridge that aim to provide children
with the best possible start in life.
All children who are three and four years old can
attend an Early Years education setting where Early Years
Foundation stage learning is provided free.
The free places are provided by a variety of settings
including pre-schools, independent school nurseries, nursery
classes that are part of Redbridge Primary Schools, or day
nurseries for parents who are working and need 'wrap around
care'.

free early education places for children.
All providers are required to use the Early Years Foundation
Stage (
EYFS
) to
ensure that whatever setting parents choose, they can be confident
that their child will receive a quality experience that supports
their development and learning.
Providers are supported by the borough's Early Years Pedagogy
Advisory team.
The
EYFS
is
based around four themes:
- A Unique Child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
Each theme is linked to an important principle:
A Unique Child
Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be
resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships
Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of
loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key
person.
Enabling Environments
The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending
children's development and learning.
Learning and Development
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different
rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally
important and inter-connected.
