Scrutiny 'Good Practice' and 'External Witness'
guides
The Scrutiny Good
Practice Guide (PDF 127KB) provides Councillors and
Council officers with advice, guidance and practical steps on how
to achieve successful scrutiny. It is based on experience of
scrutiny in Redbridge to date, best practice research and examples
from other local authorities.
The External
Witness Guide (PDF 61.9 KB) provides guidance to individuals or
who have requested to give evidence at a Scrutiny committee or a
working group. The term ‘witness’ is not as daunting as it
sounds and simply means talking to Councillors about an issue in
which you have an interest or an expertise in order for them to
gain a better understanding.
